About
Like all great ideas, 52 New Things it was inspired by someone else and, in the creative nursery of the pub, tweaked into its current form. I realise that devoting an entire website to what is essentially a glorified list of new year’s resolutions is probably the ultimate in self-obsessed ego massaging but if I hadn’t I’d probably get bored after day two and give up. By spending the money on getting a website made I have to do these things otherwise I’ve wasted a whole month’s pocket money. And Mrs New Things would kill me.
After a somewhat underwhelming 2009, I decided to try something that would make this year a memorable one. I liked the idea of trying something new each week, no matter how big or small and I’m excited by the concept that people can help shape the journey for me by suggesting new things to try. And a bit scared.
Naturally, given these benevolent times, it would not be proper of me to benefit from this venture financially so I’ve decided to set up a JustGiving page for a cause close to my heart. In the unlikely event that the 52NewThings project leads to monetary gain over the next year, I’d much rather the Alzheimer’s Society benefited from it than myself. After all, with 52 new things to try this year I think I’ll be too busy to spend any money.
Perhaps you’d like to try some new things yourself. Have a go and let me know how you get on. Or don’t. I’m pretty relaxed about it really. Exciting, eh?
